iKomee is an application that people can use to create and customize their own online storefront in a simple and quick manner. iKomee can work with users who already have a website and domain, or with those who are just getting started and need someone to host a site for them. The iKomee shopping cart builder can guide a user through the process of creating such an application for themselves, and the user doesn't need to know a bit of coding in order to do so. iKomee then allows users to add products and begin selling and making money! iKomee boasts to be the shopping cart application that supports over 150 different features. Some of these features include: featured and sale items, social network integration, search engine optimization, and a complete administration panel so users can view the statistics on their storefront from a single, accessible dashboard. Additionally, iKomee supports a number of global payment options including PayPal, and 2CO. Additionally the site supports offline payment methods such as checks and money orders. All in all, iKomee appears to be a comprehensive application for those looking to build their own online store with little know-how or experience.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

iKomee was developed by a freelance programmer back in 2009. The project's intent was to make a web app that guides users through creating an online storefront, while empowering them to customize the template by as much as 80%. iKomee started to grow and require more resources, and it eventually grew to support a small team and to be officially launched in August 2011. iKomee is based out of Cape Town, South Africa and the team is available 24/7 to assist its clients in their storefront and selling endeavors.

What are the differences to other apps?

iKomee is based outside of the US in South Africa. While it can boast SSL security encryption, some US-based organizations may feel weary about having a foreign company manage its transactions AND host its company website. Beyond this, iKomee offers a very large suite of features, from everything to building one's storefront, to managing it, to fine-tuning it, to promoting it. iKomee is also supported by a team 24/7 so users can feel good about getting the help they need in the event there is a critical issue with their store.

iKomee was built to provide storefront and shopping cart application services to anyone, even those who do not know a bit of coding knowledge. Through iKomee anyone can build, customize and manage their online storefront and, in turn, make a profit by selling their goods or services online! iKomee is setup as a simple click and build kind of graphical application with simple icons and logical paths for the end users to follow. The site is responsive. The only concerning thing was an overuse of acronyms and some grammatical errors on the site which gave it a slightly amateurish appearance. Overall, iKomee appears to be a solid product.

How does the registration process work?

New accounts can register by clicking on the "Sign Up" or "Buy Now" button located on the site's pricing page. From there, users will be asked whether they need a new website domain or if they have one already today. To register for an iKomee account, users need to provide the following information: username, password, security question, security answer, first and last name, business name (optional), job title (optional), email address, secondary email address (optional), address, city, state, zip and phone number. For those users who do not already have their domain they will need to provide their information for a web site hosting contract as well. Upon completing all of the information, users will be able to start accessing the iKomee application.

iKomee offers two pricing plan options. The less expensive plan is their Basic plan which runs $109 per year (or $9.08 per month). The basic plan includes: shopping cart builder, shopping cart administration panel, 40 email accounts, 200 SKU's, and SSL Security. The most expensive and comprehensive plan is their Enterprise plan which costs $199 per month ($16.58 per month) and includes everything that the Basic plan offers, except for added support of up to 5,000 SKU's. The app also offers a free 30 day trial for all new user accounts. For those who also do not have a domain already, iKomee can host their domain for an additional $15 per year.

iKomee is ideal for the inexperienced and new to the scene entrepreneur who needs to develop and manage a storefront online, but who may not have tons of programming or internet experience. For users who are looking for a comprehensive and relatively inexpensive application to assist in these manners, iKomee is a good solution.
